Hunter Lewis Breeds

Our bloodlines are from the world’s best Blonde d’Aquitaine, British White, and Japanese Black breeds.

The passion for excellent, yet lean, beef and elegant animals initially drew us to select the breeds to be part of the Hunter Lewis beef program and our continued passion and innovation drives us to continuously provide the best product.

Much of the beef industry is driven by personal preference on cosmetic factors – the desire for a particular color of hide or a recognized name. Our herd preferences are focused on traits like gentility, calving ease, milk production, lean and well-marbled beef, and feed and carcass efficiency.

Through years of international research, marketstudy, and experience, we settled on the breeds that best met our criteria and have continued our breeding program to ensure we’re maintaining and enhancing breed standards.

The propriety genetic make-up of our market cattle is individually managed to ensure that each animal carries the traits that make great sires, dams, and calves and consistently produce phenomenal beef.

30% of the Hunter Lewis herd is dedicated to pure-bred, registered herds of each of our breeds.

50% of our herd is dedicated to perfecting our composite market beef through individual genetic management of each animal.

20% of the Hunter Lewis herd is used for new breeding programs. We believe that we should continuously be improving our beef along with technology and scientific research developments and we align a portion of our herd to being forward-thinking in bringing the best beef to American tables.

Genetic information is available to our customers for each animal upon request.
